About The Artwork

The woods surrounding where I live can feel like a never ending maze of trees, even a deafening barricade. However, after studying the pattern, voids appear within the oppressive solidity. I can see the separation of limbs and moments of reaching light breaking through branches, exposing the wall's vulnerability. These watercolor paintings are my abstract interpretation of the fickle back-and-forth dance of the woods surrounding me: from concrete to transparent, and back again.

This series represents my interpretative juxtaposition between the abstract and concrete, and the beauty that is discovered beyond an initial perception.
